Does anyone know when the Nokia Lumia 928 will get the Lumia Black Update.

Soon. There's no schedule of release. So expect any time from now until WP8.1 comes out in April. Carrier depending of course.

VZ and the 928 have always had issues, separate and together. Like said above, 8.1 is suppose to be announced and potentially releases around April and/or Spring. That being said, expect it before that. I believe MS said they would all be rolled out within Q1 2014 so given in a few more weeks. Also, you can do the Developers Preview. Give you practically everything that update will get anyways.

I have trouble finding this article credible, given that they say the rollout begins for the 1020 today. It started 21 days ago.

For the record, the 928 was one of the first phones to get GDR2/Amber in the US, so we'll see how they handle GDR3/Black.

Waiting for approval = undergoing final testing with Nokia, country or operator to achieve approval.
Coming soon = approved, in final pre-release checks.

If I've learned anything, it is that Verizon is extremely unpredictable when it comes to updates. GDR1 was slow on the 822. GDR2 was fast on the 928 and 822. But I don't think the Trophy ever got the 7.8 update. And now we're not up front with GDR3 like we were with GDR2. I think it just goes to show how silly it is to try to predict these things.

I've mentioned this before but it is my opinion that they uncharacteristically hustled in GDR2 to get the group MMS issue settled
