My new puppy. All auto. Nokia camera

I genuinely can't understand peoples dismay at the fact you can manually alter specific camera settings to suit different environmental factors. Surely it is a benefit. I have taken great auto-setting pictures which I find very acceptable, but under certain conditions, I revel in the fact I can manually adjust all settings, and get cracking photos. Such as the above and those I've posted on PAGE 6. linkhttp://forums.windowscentral.com/nok...tm#post2651329

In Pro Shot you can even set up 2 custom profiles, so let's say 1. for indoors 2. for outdoor night time.

Putting an end to the whole thing, I think most people are discouraged by the auto settings on the CAMERA app? (or Nokia cam app too). I can't think why. I think the natural sharpening of the image using oversampling is much better than some phones which use a sharpening filter. In my opinion the sharpening filter in some of the competitors phones looks unreal. On the 930 I think it takes good auto-setting photos, they're acceptable to me, but in time I'm sure we'll see further improvements to please everyone.

Now if your the average joe/jane that wants decent point and click, you can achieve this on the 930, but you can delve alot deeper into camera settings to get some mind blowing photos. Some phones don't even let you change 1 setting, its all auto all the time, which going back to the average joe/jane, its what the average consumer wants, but being a consumer myself I think this is very limiting.

So in all the 920/930/1520 and other manually configurable phones aren't for everyone, but those of us that enjoy tinkering with settings, as you can see from many of the photo's in this thread, these phones do take some of the best images from a smartphone. If you don't want to change settings and have fun capturing photo's, you can go with one of the competitors, they will hold your hand. (That's not to say other smartphones don't allow manual settings, alot of them do)

If the 1520 and the 930 have the same camera, why can't the 930 take decent night time pictures? Mine are grainy as hell.
Can you help to take a couple of lowlight photos with the 920 and 930, both under the following same conditions?
    1. Same ISO and similar brightness. The shutter speed may vary to keep things in balance, but should not exceed 1s to avoid motion blur.

Those photos are taken with 100-ISO and shot times ranged from 1.6 to 0.5 seconds but no tripod was used, just holding phone steady and OIS took care of rest. You can check how photos look on auto settings from same scene from this folder https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=A7E6E...0CBC020D7!2015 lots of grain on those. There is also photos taken with Black firmware at the beginning. You can spot easily which ones are taken with Cyan firmware.

Its all about using manual settings at such low light situations. Just learn to use them and you start enjoying taking beautiful low light photos.

This video contains lowlight and daylight videos there's also some running in one of the videos so you can see how the OIS performs.

    Some pictures with auto settings:

A sad flower, sad weather, but I had to test the camera under these conditions :D it's not really edited, I just set the white balance and had to compress it a lot.. does anyone know the file size limit for uploading a picture here?

Care to post some lowlight pictures from your 5S? Or zoom in 2x?

Interesting, I have seen that effect on 930's videos on low light environments with artificial lights like on a disco or something like that but I have never seen it only partially, this is odd.

I think its one of the lights being a little strong for camera like if you watch a video and sun reflection on the lens. I get a little purple bit if Il at home in the lounge as our sofa os opposite the window and taking pic from that position gets some part of the same effect

Apparently I am going to make some night shots soon again to show you more to help me decide, if it was really worth 500 € of buy...

Could be lens flare from some light outside the frame? If this is happening to many pictures could be hardware defect.

This is what i wanted to see, i really do not care SO much for the photo quality but audio recording in videos, that's what i want, they say the 930 has 4 microphones like the 1520, right? And Nokia was promoting it as it has some kinda of "cinematographic audio recording" and i'd say that it's much better than what i got with my 920, comparing with this videos, hope i'll get my hands on a 930 soon and start recording concert videos.

You will get about 2h13min (no filesize limit on internal storage - only on SD-card using the Lumia 1520) with a fully charged 100% battery and flight mode ON. I recommend using a leather flip case for concert video recording as the 930 will become VERY HOT and you can hide the display by using a flip case for stealth-video-recording. ;) Make sure you have 25GB of free space for long concert recordings.
For AUDIO ONLY recordings I recommend "AUDIO RECORDER PRO" with up to 96kHz WAV stereo recordings and automatic gain control.

Used my 920 for recording and i know about VERY HOT, damn that phone really turned things up! 2H13min is a lot, i usually record local music bands so the max for their show is 1H or maybe 1H30min, and i don't record everything, so i'm good with that.

Looking to other videos of yours i find 930 to be really good with recording audio, 920 was good, fair enough but this is surely much better! Hope i can get my hands on one soon.

I switched over from a 1520 to the 930 as the 6" screen was getting a bit in the way for day to day use on the job. So I'm familiar with the hardware, and happy with the picture quality so far.
