LTE/4G support for Lumia 930 in India

Have a question about LTE support for Lumia 930 in India.... Does Lumia 930 bought in india support LTE/4G band 2300MHz which is provided by Airtel India? If not what all bands available in 930 and are they disabled in the present version of the OS? When i go into the Settings - Cellular+SIM - SIM Settings - Highest connection speed, i can see only 2G and 3G as option but not 4G.

The best way to answer this is sort of like this:

Most of the phones have a different version of basically the same thing. The only difference within the versions is their cellular support, so when you see on the forum someone saying they have a Lumia 1520.3 (for example) it means that they got the international version that supports many cellular bands.

In your case, the lumia 930 should have these bands:

2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network LTE 800 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600

For future reference visit gsmarena.com and type down the phone you wish to look up, it's the very first thing they display when you look up the phone.

Thanks for the reply dude. I knew all these already, but my confusion is my phone has the chip which comes with LTE but in the OS there is no option to select max speed of 4G. So is it restricted in OS for India? It doesn't matter even if it doesnt connect 4G tower as the present 4G in india is using 2300MHz band, but i want to see the 4G support in my mobile

Dude MS has recently enabled 4G option for lumia handsets in India....I have that option i.e 4G in my Lumia 925..By the way i am using dp

TD LTE/4G band 2300MHz is not supported by the Radio Chip/Modem of Lumia 930 & Lumia 1520.

So, it could not and would not be supported by Lumia 930. Its a hardware limitation.

gsmarena says that 930 is 4G LTE enabled in India but the Microsoft India site for mobile devices does not mention or is silent on 4G LTE for 930 and hence there is ambiguity. However the new phones advertised e.g. 640 XL LTE boldly proclaim to have LTE! This means that in India 930 does not have hardware for LTE

As of now only 2300MHz is used in India for LTE and unfortunately 930 doesnt support that band. So for now LTE wont work in 930

Diwagar, I have read in news that Airtel is going to release their 4G on standard 1800Mhz band soon in major circles in India. And I fathom that Vodafone India already uses 1800Mhz band for 4G in the select cities that it operates.
Hence will L930 switch to 4G 1800Mhz on those?

Vodafone is yet to start 4G service in India, they dont have it implemented here yet. Yes i have heard about it as 2300MHz is not a widely accepted band globally and it is famous in China. But we have to wait and watch who is going to use the 1800MHz spectrum...

Does that mean that you are able to use 4G on your Lumia phone after you upgraded it to the DP version of Windows Phone 10?

I have a Lumia 1520 which shows the 4G option but my 4G sim is still not able to connect to the internet. I am in Delhi NCR and using Airtel. Airtel has recently launched 4G in Delhi NCR, and I heard it the band is 1800 Mhz, which Lumia 1520 supports.

Any help would be welcome...Thanks

Have the same problem with 1520 on Airtel NCR.

It shows 4g option, I have a 4g sim inserted and activated, however am connecting only on H+ speeds.

I have another Lumia 920 where I am getting 4G without issues. The 920 for sure does not support TD-LTE and so Airtel NCR has band 3 (1800mhz) deployed for sure.
1520 supports this band so it should work.... Why is it not?

Only difference that I can think of is my 920 was coming through the Dev preview path.
My 1520 has received official updates only...

Would that make a difference?

It works!
All I did was switch off the device, pulled out the sim, reinserted and now it is giving me 14mbps dl and 8mbps ul.
