My bank has just announced mobile app for internet banking and guess what?
Yes, of course, it's available on Apple, Android and Blackberry - but not for Windows phones.
I can't see HSBC listening to me asking for a Windows phone app (why would they bother?)
Is there an android emulator available so that I can run some basic apps on this wretched Windows phone OS?
Or should I just bin it now and pay for another type of phone?

No, you can't run Android apps on a Windows Phone.

Microsoft had released tools that allow developers to port Android apps to Windows Phone a lot easier. But doing this still depends on their decisions to do so.
