Is it possible to open Apps from links?

I'm still new to Windows Phone and wondering if there's a way to open an App instead of a web page when clicking no a link.

For example, if I'm reading a Twitter feed and someone links to an Instagram photo, the link opens up in Explorer, not the Instagram App. Anyway to change this? Thanks

No, but why? For instagram, yes. I see it working for instagram because the website doesn't offer some of the features. Plus its free. Hmm. Free would work, but subscription apps maybe not. Apps are set up for convenience as well. Well most of the time. I could see why this would be beneficial. Websites can be a bit cumbersome. Apps are easy navigation because its made for touch. I like the idea.
