My computer is running windows XP and IE 8. Would it be worth it to upgrade to windows 7 and IE 9 or should I wait for windows 8? This is an older computer and I'd like to replace it, buy I don't know when that will happen.

It's a matter of personal preference, but I think it is. Windows 7 is amazing. IE nine is garbage though.

Just as a side note, depending on how old your computer is, you might want to check the system requirements. I don't know how demanding they are.

i would go with windows 8 cause it has two interfaces metro and windows 7 like UI
and they are working to lower memory usage more than windows 7 and new fast boot
and if you are going to buy screen with touch then windows 8 better choice

or you could buy windows 7 for desktop and windows 8 for tablet

Win 7 would be the best choice right now. IE9 works great also. That coming from someone who has a I7-2600k @4.2ghz with 8gb of GSkill DDR3-1600, Zotac 470GTX, and a 64gb SSD, and a 1tb HDD on 1 box, and I7-920 @ 3.8ghz with 6gb of Patriot DDR3-1600 with a EVGA 520 vid card folding 24/7.

I'll check the system requirements for windows 7 and see if my computer is up to it. Eventually I want to put it in my boys room so he can play games on it and get me a nice new desktop.
