Any suggestions on what would be a good upgrade between the Honda Pilot or Ford Explorer. We still need the 7 passenger but want something different then a van. Both have great reviews and size but does anybody can tell me real world experiences between them? I was think of either 2010-2011 year...thanks in advance.

I am sure Ford's ok, for a while, but I haven't bought any American vehicles in the past 15 years. Why? Because their quality and longevity is lousy compared to Honda, Toyota, Subaru, and Nissan. Don't believe me? Check Consumer Reports Auto Buying Guide. It's all there. Unless Honda has nosedived on their quality, you just can't go wrong with the Pilot.

Full disclosure: I have owned a 1991 Honda Civic that I kept as a daily driver from 2005-2010. I then got a 2004 Nissan Frontier and a 1998 Honda Accord for my new wife. I have no worries about my lovely wife driving an old car. It's a Honda, after all.

Can't really go wrong with either. I'm partial to Ford though. Those newer explorers are really nice. Drive them both and see which you like best.

I dunno. I've been contemplating on getting a Ford Edge the past couple years. I think Ford design has truely taken a leap forward in recent years. I have never bought a Ford in my life because of perceived quality, but I think I'm willing to take a chance... sooner or later.
