re: WC 100K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

It's only Wednesday :p

I leave for Prague on Saturday. I have Friday off where I'll be in London.

Oh, sorry. Tomorrow is a Christian bank holiday in Switzerland, I just assumed it's the same for you. You godless creatures on the island!

Even Daniel Rubino stopped believing in Whatsapp coming back anytime soon.

It's possibly time to give up on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp competitor Telegram Messenger is now available for Windows Phone | Windows Phone Central

That means it's possibly time to give up on Windows Phone. Well, as long as it's running, it's running. I just realized, it's even worse for my mother, she's using Whatsapp a lot and I bought her the Lumia 620 :-(

That's why I never recommended Windows Phone to anybody!

Our Spring Bank Holiday was this past Monday. They like to give us long weekends. :)

If only we were as 'godless' as we seem...

The university makes officially a bridge (that's what we call it in German when a holiday is on Thursday and we don't work on Friday), so I have my Friday off too. Very long weekend, a good reason for bliss and enjoyment, except that I'll visit my girlfriend's parents for the first time. Still being nervous...

Sounds like a good weekend. :)

I'm sure you'll survive. :p

I've just made the 2048 block in the game 2048. Now I can die in peace.

Well, I only knew the game for like two weeks and I instantly got really soaked into it. I'm also proud that I developed the strategy by myself and didn't look it up ;-)

If Whatsapp doesn't come back and BBM doesn't show up then I hate to say it because I know there are those who could care less but this will start the demise of WP for sure. With devs leaving and new apps not coming this is where people start to question if it's worth sticking around.

I can't see Whatsapp not coming back and I hope BBM does show up. I just can't get over how bloody slow all this is. This year is going to be pretty bad for WP without a doubt.

I hope it comes back, I won't replace my mother's phone for years (at least that's the plan) and I want to keep mine until autumn. I'll just have to treasure it that there never will be a hardreset required ;-)

It's certainly because Facebook owns it now. They don't provide an app for Windows Phone, Microsoft has to develop it, so why should Whatsapp provide one? What's their problem with Windows Phone anyway? They financed this failure of a Facebook Android phone after all...

I think Facebook's issue with WP is that it's too secure and they can't grab all your stuff from it. They haven't done much with Whatsapp yet in it grabbing all your contacts as far as I know.

I get the feeling it will show up again. Way too many users on it for it not to come back and MS knows what will happen if it doesn't come back.

iOS is secure too. Only on Android you can give them everything. And most people do I guess. ;-)

An iPhone would be nice... let's see what they present next week about iOS and if they bring a bigger screened phone in autumn.

I can only assume the iOS APIs (if that's the right term) are better than WP and that's causing most of the issues. Especially with the change to WP8.1

I think that's been the major issue with a lot of things on WP but I could be wrong.

Morning folks. Back in class again. I'm tired already. My sleep hasn't been the best lately but I'll pull through.

But then again, independent developers are capable of doing amazing stuff with the WP APIs, personally I blame the low market-share.

So what you're basically saying is that the 'big' app devs are lazy. Could be true but then I guess it depends on what you're trying to achieve.

So I just got an invite to a dinner with a company that's trying to sell us stuff. I have to discuss said invite with my supervisor as I'm unsure if this is appropriate. Not even sure I'll go but it's always good to know one way or the other.

No, no, no, not after having this argument in another thread trying to explain why I would never say such a thing! ;-)

I don't think app developers of big companies are lazy. That has multiple reasons. A developer programming for iOS most likely isn't programming for Android and Windows Phone. So they have to hire specialists for each platform. And the developer they hire is most likely not lazy, a big company usually doesn't hire lazy people.

It has nothing to do with laziness, it has something to do with business decisions. They have to device to support the platform, have to device to hire the people, have to decide to provide the support. That's a lot of money, and if they think market-share is too low, they won't invest it.

That's my theory, it has nothing to do with laziness.
