Even though the company is doing OK here in the UK, the rest of the offices are not, so we suffer.
My last raise was in the 1% area as well.
Doesn't matter I guess. I don't plan to be here for too much longer, hopefully.03-07-2017 11:35 AMLike 0 - Now, I valued my own space. And in some cases when I was apartment hunting in the city they were asking for essentially 55% of my monthly expenses upfront. So when I got my apartment I had to sacrifice 4 hours of each day just to have access to a bit more of my income. The point is in sharing all this just to say it's important to know what you're willing to work through and improving your lot is essential.
Being an adult sucks sometimes.03-07-2017 11:38 AMLike 0 - An academic place to get a Masters or Doctoral degree.

- Grad school is an optional level, where you get Master's and PhD (doctorate) degrees. If you wanted to be a lawyer, you would get your first (Bachelor's degree) and then instead of grad school, you would be going to law school.
It just depends on how far you want to go and how much education is needed for what you'll be doing.- Share

- I'm going on two years without a raise and they just changed the formula to some new vague idea on performance, not sure how that's measured I don't have KPIs. The old was not much better...

Where I am, we only get a small raise to account for cost of living. Nothing more.- Share

- We in the USA don't need to be worried about temptation too much since Huawei is not going to sell the P series devices here. But we can get creative and try to import them from Canada...

The Honor 8 is a solid device, actually feels slightly better in the hand versus my Pixel but that could be due to the difference in case quality.- Share

I tried to do that with the Huawei Nova (not the Plus) and I couldn't even find one. :( Just wanted it because it was smaller than the Honor 8. I don't think I can be bothered to deal with that lol.03-07-2017 11:54 AMLike 0 - If you are too lazy to search for that it's best you focus on your current line of studies.

- So for the newer folks here, I've been studying part time to get a Master's in Social Work for the better part of the life of this thread (4 years). In order to practice as a social worker in the US, you need a license...In order to get access to federal jobs, you need to be a citizen. So I need to get those two things to really make some headway in the social work field.

- That's why I wanted one of those if the camera was a bit better because it had everything I was missing outside of the wireless charging. I was reading the camera wasn't better than the Mi 5.

- X Compact and the Z3 Compact are okay devices. If you were able to snag them for about 50% off the retail price then great, otherwise not worth it.

I really wanted a z3 compact but no band 12 doesn't work for me at work. :( The Honor 8 has amazing radios though and a very good selfie camera (not used all the time but still) so it's hard to give up that combo...03-07-2017 12:05 PMLike 0 - So for the newer folks here, I've been studying part time to get a Master's in Social Work for the better part of the life of this thread (4 years). - It is becoming the normal unless you keep getting an Exceptional or Outstanding rating year in and year out. I went without a single $ raise for 2 review cycles in my current job for some really outlandish and bizarre reasons.

I'm in the public sector so I guess my raise for completing my probation is all I'll see for a while.
Edit: I stand corrected, there's different levels of the public sector that do get raises, like local government and such, but I'm not a part of that.03-07-2017 12:14 PMLike 0 - 03-07-2017 12:14 PMLike 1

- On one hand, I miss not shuffling my phone in my hand so the X Compact looks nice for that but it's a bummer that I can't get it less than $250 unless it's banged up. I keep hovering over the B&H page for one.
If I was to try it and like it, the Honor 8 will have to go. I don't want to have 4+ phones again lol.03-07-2017 03:26 PMLike 0 - So I caved.
I'm a sucker, and B&H enables me. I just need to know, and I need to compare cameras and also see if Nine is still magical on this phone or not. It's a hard life being someone who feels like they need to be very sure about things. For this, I'm not going to be sure until I am...if that makes any sense.
To be fair, phones, Spotify and my tv sub are all I do pay for as fun things. Hopefully it will be in my hands tomorrow night...03-07-2017 04:08 PMLike 0
