My career is libraries, really. It's not common but it fits so well for me. Not sure what else I would be doing if I wasn't here. Probably something administrative.
My uncle who passed away last year was one of the first to get a PhD in library science back in the day (that too in my home country). He helped start a library science department at the University where he found employment after graduating. He would come visit often (my dad was his favorite brother-in-law) when he was in town for work and usually he would be meeting with people from book companies and book distributors. So of course he would bring lots and lots of books for me as presents. I grew up reading books from so many different genres that were mainstream here in USA at that time but not common back home. This I believe is one of the main reasons for inspiring me to become a voracious reader. I also think this helped me assimilate here in USA since I was so familiar with the norms/culture.
Thanks for bringing back fond memories!
