Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

This is specifically for MSFTisMIA:
For anyone considering the Z5 series, 3G/HSPA+ AWS (1700/2100MHz) is NOT supported on any international model for use on T-Mobile. LTE on AWS is supported, and so is PCS (1900MHz) refarmed spectrum on 3G/HSPA+. If you don't get good LTE from T-Mobile or live in a refarmed area, you're not going to get 3G on any international Z5. This is in contrast to every other Z series device which did support that band.

That's because T-Mobile is pushing their Band 12 support for their own devices, among other things. I was already going to pass on the Z5, and this makes it easier.

So work was a zoo. New coworker is still not following instructions. Sigh. I've given up on that ship weeks ago, so no surprises there...

Looks like Kaz may pull Sony out of the smartphone business, rumor has it, if they flop in 2016.

I'd comment on that, but avid readers of the thread know my stance already...

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

As reading the flagships I found myself not so interested about them . Not because they aren't cool but I'm more of a mid range phone type of person . I really hope the 850 comes to be cheaper than the 830 when it came out

Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk but I prefer my 810 and 830

Folding keyboard and Surface Arc mouse working with my 636. ALT-TAB works already, all I need is to project to a bigger screen.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

All jokes aside though, I really hope MSFT has a strong showing. Interesting that the two kings of enterprise - RIM and MSFT - are launching new phones. I'm very curious to see the Venice (Priv) and how well it fares. I think it may follow the passport and get lots of buzz, but not sure about it's impact.

As for MSFT and their 950, I think it'll energize some of the fanbase, but I really don't know if I saw enough yesterday that will pull in new folks outside the platform. No offense but this is Gen 1 Windows 10 hardware. Maybe MSFT could go radical and kill the high-end Lumia line next year and offer the top end specs in a surface phone and use the Lumia for mid range and low end models...

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

2015 and the influence of privilege is alive and well.

So I went to see our in-house IT chief today at work. We've got an app on iOS and Android we're promoting to youth as a way to stay connected to the Center and I have a group of HS sophomores (AKA 10th graders) coming in for a tour of the facility. I walk into her office and I see she's going the vertical desk movement. She's elevated her working station and was running on an elliptical barefoot as we spoke. She is doing this to ensure she's getting enough movement in her day at work. I joke with her to state I wish I could go vertical and she laughed, stating it is hard to do since I see patients.

I walked away from her office and I was reminded...I don't need to go vertical to ensure I'm moving at work. I have to physically get up out of my office, get patients, have them sit in my office and then escort the back to the waiting area at the end of my sessions. This doesnt include when I have to go searching for missing patients. Add my commute in which I can do 3000 steps easily ONE WAY. I coast each work day and do 9000 steps and if I run errands afterwards, 11000 -14000 steps is easily attained for me. And this is the Sony SWR10 being notoriously conservative/inaccurate in its estimates.

Why is this privilege? Without bringing ethnicity into it, here is a woman easily doubling my salary who has to go vertical to ensure she is moving in her work day. Meanwhile, I've got tons of movement in my day with little income to show for it...

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Today apparently is a good day for updates. One of our favorite mods is running marshmallow 6.0, and I just picked up the stage fright update for both my Z3 and the Z3 Tablet Compact.

A little birdie told me to "wait for the Surface Phones coming in January" when I was talking to him about the 950/950XL today...

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

This is what I posted on G+ today. While I'm not being a Sony apologist, they have really done well updates wise with the entire Z series line.

"Sony Xperia, I give you credit for the level of software support you've provided for the Z line since its launch. While we can argue the speediness of your software updates, you've managed to update the whole line for the past two years.

I am a Z3 + Z3 Tablet Compact owner. I have also owned phones abandoned by carriers within 4 months of being on sale. While the original Z and Z1 series owners are miffed as to why they may not get marshmallow, there are similar flagship lines who will never see 5.1.1 lollipop, even though their hardware can run the update.

If it means you can redirect resources to better manage other product lines, I'm fine with ending the Z and Z1 series at 5.1.1, provided they still get any critical security updates.

I hope that you're able to still provide the same length of support to the newer Z series models, even if you don't have a great sales year next year and are forced to switch strategy (which may include curtailing your portfolio)."
