Capture the Alps in 20 megapixels now that the Lumia 1520 is available in Switzerland | Windows Phone Central

I don't really know what to think about this article. Is Sam belittling us? Are the cliches meant to be nice?

All I know is, that I would never buy the 1520 for 999 CHF. That's just incredibly expensive, if you wait a little longer you'll get it from digitec for 750. Never buy a phone from a carrier in Switzerland.

Quite similar here, can you believe it that Nokia Lumia 1520 off-contract costs 550$ (~1705zł) in USA, while in Poland it costs 3000zł (~968$)
Exchange rate (4.12.2013) 1$ ~ 3,10zł
How the hell is it possible? I'm not mistaken with my calculations. I would name it a rape. I know the taxes are different but come on! Almost nobody can afford it at the moment, and average, fat US resident can go out and buy himself this phone. Some people would have to spend two WHOLE salaries to buy it here! lol

1. Taxes.
2. Carriers.
3. Nokia needs to recoup whatever losses they had in the US.

yup, just edited. I'm aware of taxes. I'm writing about off-contract phones, no deal, no signing. Just a phone without data plan. I can't believe that. People here are earning less money and have to pay a lot for everything.

Same case as here in the Philippines. They actually set the price for the 1020 here as around 34000 pesos (that's ~$800 for you), while the 920 had dropped to just half the price (from 26400 to ~17000).
Ridiculous

Re: WPC 20K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

great, again I'm going to sleep with a painful feeling of how unfair the world is. Come on, I would (unwillingly) accept 100$ more, but 400$?!?!! I would like to sport 1520 or 1020, and I will have to stay with my 820 for 1-2 years more. They in USA can get it for such price and they still prefer Android/iOS devices, what a d..... nation haha

You'll be (un)happy to know that the 820 is the worst at retaining its value.

It's down to below the price of the 720 at some stores. (Then again, the price of the 720 hasn't dropped here at all since launch.)
