Re: WPC 30K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

My strong points in school have always been maths and sciences. I've never been that great at English or History (though I enjoy history now).

I can calculations in my head and I have a very abstract way of looking at problems. :p

I was never good at school. Too lazy. I never prepared for any exams and just passed everything. The first time I really prepared for exams was the admission examination for the university. And later at university I was preparing for exams for weeks, every day the entire day.

So I don't know what I am really good at, maybe I'd be a great in philosophy ;-)

Funny thing is, I didn't apply myself that well either. My last year of high school (senior school) was the only time I applied myself to any extent. In college I was too lazy again and didn't really apply myself as much as I should have. I made several mistakes but such is life. :)

I'd like to got to university and get a bachelor degree but I don't know what to take. I have too many interests. I'm planning on doing some art classes in the new year but that's just personal interest.

The lucky ones who find out what they really enjoy and what they are good at in grade schools have my respect. I bounced around a ton until I found something I enjoyed.

Luckily, It is marathon, not a sprint. As soon as you find something that clicks, the motivation seems to come.

Still, those with good math-minds have the world at their feet. I have yet to find any profession where being good in Math isn't helpful, and good math skills open dozens of doors to very needed positions that so few are good at.

I also liked statistics and physics.

Victorian British literature was another course I hated.

Never took stats and physics was always a strong subject for me. :)

I was never good with any English course, literature or otherwise, funny thing is now I'd probably do very well in it! LOL! I've taken an interest in lots of different things over the last few years. I've read more non-fiction books than I ever thought I would. Life is funny that way.

I actually liked earlier and later British literature. Shakespeare's and Orwell's writings weren't bad. However, I never want to see anything by Hardy or the Brontes again.

I have to admit I never read anything of theirs but I have heard of both. I think it becomes a bit different when you've actually been to the areas they lived in. :)

I have read To Kill a Mockingbird and Of Mice and Men at school and Moby-**** or Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde just for fun. ;-) I might have read more I don't remember right now, but I haven't read much of the classic English literature in general. I didn't even read all of the classic German literature books which are usually read in high school, as I attended a technical one and it wasn't a main focus. When I had to do the additional courses and exams to be admitted to university, German literature was also a quite reduced topic.

Edit: I have never thought of the title Moby-**** being ambiguous, but the forum did it for me. Now I have always to think of a huge erected ***** when I think about this book. Thank you unnecessary censorship.

LOL! That's the issue with filters. They're already having issues here filters here in the UK, for porn, and they were having issues with filters in Australia for blocking child porn. You end up blocking legitimate content.

Re: WPC 30K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I was about to write something here, then our Technical Assistant came to ask me for help moving an incubator. So I went over to the other lab and there were already a postdoc and my boss moving this huge thing around. So we moved the incubator to the right place, and now I don't remember what I wanted to write. Doesn't matter though.

Re: WPC 30K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I had a lot of chemistry exams: Inorganic Chemistry, multiple of Organic Chemistry, multiple of Biochemistry, multiple of Physical Chemistry and most of them were quite hard. Good memories! ;-)

Good luck with your exam, I hope it will be as easy as you think!

Well, mine's "hard" high school chemistry. :p
