yeah, maybe because they have tight control of the manufacturing process, hopefully Microsoft can do something similar once the acquisition is complete.

I read there will be a developer preview so I find it hard to believe it will take a long time. I may be proven wrong

We had a dev preview of GDR3 and it still took 3-4 months to get it 'officially'. Some still don't have it.

When, and if I get a replacement, I hope I get the Pro 2 that got that CPU upgrade! It was minor, but I always like higher specs!

But I just need to figure out how to do a whole system backup on a backup drive, so when I replace my surface, it will look 100% identical to my current one.

I've been traveling on and off since 3pm yesterday from the house I grew up in headed back to my current apartment. It will be good to get some sleep tonight...

Sounds like a good idea! I'm not good with long travel. :/ Even when I did flights to/from Australia I never slept well.
