re: WC 100K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I think it was that people expected wp to be like android but that didn't happen. so the minority complained to msft and msft caved. msft changed from " the just works mentality " to the add lots of features and fix them later

Seems to me they've tried to do both and have failed at both. Not sure what they do next. I like the last round of Lumia devices and want to get one because they're the last Nokia branded devices. Problem now is that they honestly are flawed devices, just as the first WP8 models were. Much of their limitations stem from MSFT's handling of how the software supported better hardware.

How much better would a 1520 be with a s805 processor and the OS with devs focusing on apps maximizing that screen space? How much better would the 930 be running a s801 chip even with a 2600mah battery? How much better would the 1020 be if it was a quad core s800 with 2 cores running the camera solely? How much better would the 920/925 be with s600 chips? Hardware isn't everything but man, WP just got shafted with the hardware, trying to make greatness out of flawed out tech be a use of untimely OS limitations. Now the hardware is catching up, the question is how will want to use it?

No one should have bought the Icon....

Im not sure what to think but so far Verizon is showing the warning signs that they will EOL it soon after they update the icon

The Odyssey, Ativ SE, 8X, 928 and 822 are dead men walking on VZW, along woth the Icon. Funny enough that they have the 2nd biggest WP8 lineup in the states and only the W8 has 8.1 of all their phones. Almost everything on AT&T, even the 820, is on 8.1. T-mo only has the 635 and the soon to launch 530 on 8.1, so VZW users shouldn't feel bad...Sprint users haven't seen 8.1 either.

WP is a mess in the States. And not getting better either.

But but but.... WP doesn't need good hardware to be great! It runs silky smooth on even the crappiest hardware! We don't need all those features and apps because WP isn't meant to be used like that!

Sorry slipped into ****** for a second....

good questions that msft should be thinking about. but to utilize those specs wouldn't they have to open up their OS even more and risk becoming more like android in the process?

in a way its true for regular consumers specs don't mean much , as long as it works with FB, Snapchat, IG, vine w/e it works. when we start getting into the territory of getting stuff done and doing it fast then yes specs and features do matter

WP needs all the hardware or can get because its resale value, at least here in the States is so shifty.

Here's a thought...stop running a siloed company. Throw money at refining the OS as quickly as possible. Forget bringing in the apps for right now be a use of your OS looks good and runs well, people will buy and the apps will come. Crank up that idea of Cortana on all Windows devices. Roll RT and WP into one quicker. Add missing WP features.

Pretty much do all the **** that needed to be done years ago.

Who is this average consumer you speak of? :p

What people want is the same thing they get on android and iPhone. Apps. That's the average consumer. Period. Without that WP might as well stick to emerging economies at least developers support the os there.
