Re: WC 100K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

i know its a little late for my story of Utah but i will do my best to talk about it :p
so the first day was the drive for 12 hrs from Cali to Utah. the boring part of the trip was passing through Nevada ( casino state) and seeing nothing but desert . the highlight of the trip passing though Nevada was eating at black bear diner. then from that point it was another 4 hrs to get to Utah .

we got to Utah around 9pm ( since we passed to mountain time)
so the day started to look at the soccer stadium and then going to the best burger joint SLC ( salt lake city) its called astro burger. then around 2 pm we went to my sisters place because she hasn't seen her sister in over 17 years. so we basically we were there all day.

the fun day was on Saturday . we got to sleep in..yay! we had plans to go to the mall called city creek mall. it was also the place where Mormons had their HQ. anyways that mall was huge it was an indoor outdoor mall . there was many stores and things to look at . the one that i was interested was the Microsoft store and it was pretty cool. i got to play around with the htc one . around 2 we went to eat Mexican food. it was ok.... kind of expensive but oh well that's what you get for being out of town . anyways it was time to go ice skating. we were only 10 minutes from the Olympic oval. the stadium is big enough to have an ice skating rink and an individual hokey rink. i haven't skated in over 8 years so once i got on those skates i knew i was going to be in trouble. there was people there so it was kind of embarrassing to fall but oh well what you can you :p i fell down over 25 times but not once did it feel that it hurt. we skated for over 3 hrs. it was well worth the fall to remind myself how to skate though ;)

so Sunday was the day we just went to another mall but i was sore so it hurt to walk :p but i did buy myself a red scarf and a hat. the rest of the day we were with my moms sister . so Sunday was a chill day. thought it did snow that day so it was awesome ! :D

that is my shorten summary of my trip to Utah :D since there is a lot of pictures here is the link to see them all

Sounds like you had a good time!

You've got some nice pics there. Good ones for the Eats thread and if you had a Instragram account.

Well there goes everyone's argument about flagship phones being irrelevant. If there was a good line up at every store in the US WP would be doing a lot better there. As it is with the fragmented mess it is this is why there's little traction.

Well WP needs market share, hence coming up with more of low/mid ranged phones. Don't worry, a flagship phone is coming soon...

Just can't get excited about mid and low end phones, we've had a flood of them this year. Sorry. If I had kids, maybe, but then they'd probably want an iPhone or Android. :p

That's only if you would buy them! As far as my parents are concerned, I won't be getting a high end phone unless I become independent.

Your previous post proves that this argument is untrue. We sort of had this discussion already. Maybe growth in 3rd world countries is important to you but growth in the US is important for MS and WP. You cannot have growth in the US and other 1st countries without a good flagship phone. This is where MS is failing. Building market share in 3rd world countries does not attract 1st world developers.

Re: WC 100K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Morning folks. So I took the plunge and order an LG G Watch. It wasn't my first choice (wanted a Pebble Steel), but for $100, it was certainly at the price point I liked. Plus I know I can root it. It would have been nice it were the Sony one where you can put here maps on it, but oh well. Not a fan of leather straps so I'll order a matte black 22mm band for it.

We will see how this works out...if I don't like it I can trade for a Pebble Steel or ask 99 to move it.

Say companies like Apple do not pay attention to developing countries. All They want is profit. As they wouldn't think of providing services to developing countries, why would we care to but them at that costly price. We don't have contracts here.
Tit for tat.
Hence from last 2 years apples market share is going down, lack of low/mid ranged phones etc. The best case has been in few countries where its sales remained flat. In two years probably wp would overtake iPhones in market share. Only US can't contribute to the market share as a whole. If I'm not mistaken even in US, iPhone sales dropped.
I agree with you that we need developers, but again as Nokia wasn't popular in US, bringing them to WP would take time.

You're missing my point entirely.

This whole year, aside from the L930 (though debatable) has been low to mid rang phones. Now if these three new ones are low to mid range phones and no flagship people who want a flagship are going to go elsewhere. For MS to attract 1st world developers they need 1st world user base which they don't really have. Let's take Instagram, hasn't been updated in months. Why?

Without a phone that is marketed to 1st world users you lose that client base and the developers who are trying to attract them. Having low and mid range phones is fine, nothing wrong with that. However, most devs want revenue from their apps. Majority of low and mid range phone users do not want to spend money on apps. They want everything free and most want to block the ads as well. How does that attract developers?

I'm not saying only US here. They're one part but a very significant part. MS keeps targeting US over all other markets with their services and products but still gains little traction. So what's missing? A good flagship phone. I live in the UK, I've seen more WP lately and I've seen plenty of advertising for WP. However of all the phones they've released lately only two currently on the market will be able to use the Hey Cortana capability, both are long in the tooth. They're advertising Cortana but only the L930, L830 and L730/5 have it here in the UK. None of this is helping the WP market.

That's my point behind all this. They need something to excite both new and current users. Nothing is out there that does that. So people aren't upgrading and new users aren't being attracted. What's missing? A good flagship.

Have I made my point yet?

Re: WC 100K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So...if I didn't have work on Saturday and had no other day to get the few items I need, I'd support this easily with my wallet for sure:

#NotOneDime: Black Friday Boycotts Planned To Protest Ferguson Decision - Forbes

This whole situation is just another tragedy in a long line of tragedies here. I have a workshop with teenage boys next week and I am debating whether I should talk about this or not.

You should, this is an important topic/situation that is affecting the black youth.

I do my own part to work with youth around issues like these. There is more than one way to show solidarity.

Plus this affects all minority youth and by extension, poor white youth as well.

in other words..... make a flagship with crazy uber specs and mid/low end phones :) not just mid/low end phones or else msft will not gain any momentum
