My little one went on a field trip today, the first one ever and no juice box for 5 year olds as well...

I miss the juice box days. So innocent, but ultimately kids are better off drinking more water instead of the manufactured juice in those juice boxes...

Water and baked goldfish is what they got for a snack on the field trip.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Morning folks.

So it's the annual Halloween party at work...for our Teen Parenting program. Essentially, out teen parents bring their kids and do some activities in our large meeting room space, and then the fun starts. They walk around in the clinic and stop at different assigned doors where they get to play trick or treat.

I don't give out candy as too many other people do that. What I do give out are non toxic tattoos. I have some Halloween style ones and some regular ones like spongebob and stuff like.

It is a rainy looking day, so I'm hopeful that we can get a good turnout...

Good morning everyone. One more long day of training today. Tomorrow I have to take the lemon in for repairs and then in the evening get busy with pumpkin carving...

We are working on presenting to a group of peers in the training today. Intimidating to some but fun nonetheless.

So one coworker dressed up as a mermaid, another in a panda onesy and the last as a mime. All very cute for different reasons. I'd post pictures...but you'll have to take my word for it.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So I went to the MSFT store in NYC. Here are my thoughts.

1) I like the look of the place. Easy access as it's literally less than a half block away from the nearest subway. Store itself was busy but not crowded.

2) The store had a good vibe. The sales people weren't all over me, which I really liked. One of the reps playing Halo 5 asked me if I wanted to play, and when I said no...was very chill. I really like the graphics on Halo 5...very crisp in terms of the realism.

3) I liked the fact I could take the Band and try it on my wrist. Really liked that.

I had a great conversation with a rep who we talked about many things...he's married for 27 years; wife likes tech well enough; he's got a OG Band but really likes the Band 2; owns a Zen watch and a 360 along with his OG Band.

Very refreshing talking with someone about tech and not feeling like I'll get sold something. He knew his tech too, really did...my benchmark for that is we never talked specs, just the practical usage and how he handled that told me all I needed to know. Whenever I've gone to the Apple Cube a few blocks away, I feel like if I speak with the reps, it's that Apple scripted mind signing type ****. Not that that isn't important, it's just not my flavor.

4) Disappointed I didn't get to try out the 950. I demoed the 950 XL and I was overall satisfied with what I saw. Would have loved to see the Maxx compared to the 950, but I guess that happens another time.

5) Halo 5 looks really good. I'm not a FPS (1st person shooter) guy, but I'd play this for sure.

5) Liked the Surface Pro 4. Very good machine.

I think MSFT is on to something here. Time will tell, but they're off to a good start.

How would you compare the Microsoft store and the Apple store in terms of traffic level?

Both stores are in the same mall here, but the Microsoft store is dead while the Apple store is busy.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I really like the Band 2. If I was just getting into wearbables, I'd buy a Band 2 for Mon-Fri usage and get a round Wear watch for going out. I like it THAT much.

In the limited time I used it, it felt as comfortable on the wrist as my Sony OG Smartband does. That I really like. Not too much a fan of the grey strap, but I can understand why and see where and how it looks. Clasps look good and feel secure. Screen is miles better than the OG Band, and this is without mentioning the physical curved nature of the screen.

I see why they couldn't sell it for $200, but if they did, this a a runaway hit. I think I could get away with wearing a medium, but would pick the large.

All in all, very nice. Gonna get one for the GF, as I think she can wear the medium one on her wrist.

They put the MSFT store on a nice section of 5th Ave that normally gets good foot traffic anyways, so they'll get boots in the door. There's a beautiful older style church across the street where people like to take pics, and the Rolex store is on the neighboring block.

Foot traffic is no problem.

Also, the Apple Cube is much, much bigger. So you get this crowd that's a mix of tourists who want to see how it looks, people who want to buy stuffs, and people who want to browse. Their lighting is softer, trying to convey a more intimate kinda those hip NYC caf?'s feel to it.

The MSFT store, even though smaller, is easier to walk through. As you walk in, you can literally touch a device. You can see whomever thought about the layout has a good head for customer flow in the space. The lights were brighter than the Apple Cube, but they conveyed more of a cleaner airiness to the space. The store felt more "clean" and "fresh" than simply being "new".

I've got to bring the GF back in a few weeks so she can try on the Band 2. I'll update you better then. The truth is as it stands, I'm more likely to come back and browse there periodically than I would to do at the Apple Cube.

Lol you might get me to buy the band 2 lol . I'm waiting for it to come down in price. If only they did payments or something I'd be all over it
