Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Had a random turn of events this weekend so I'm not moving for the moment. I'm fine and it's all good.

I think I want to try actually saving for a little townhome/condo of my own so that I could use that as a down payment after I'm done with the grad program. Not immediately of course but it would be nice to have that going maybe within the year or the following one.

This sounds crazy, but I'm thankful to work at a place that only has me paying fees and books for said program.

There's nothing I hate more than waiting for something, especially when you're told it will be done quickly.

Oh well. Patience.

Ughh yes. Patience is hard for things like that. I hope that it will be worth it for you.

Sounds interesting.

Owning something is always better than renting. :)

Still waiting on 7.0 for the A3 I have. It looks really good based on the videos I have seen showing added features and changes. I have seen something about loading it manually and I have to say that is tempting for me to do but I don't know the level of difficulty of doing that for someone like me who likes things to work.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

After careful consideration I've made the decision to go with the x3 over the Primo. I know I'm going to regret it because the Primo has a much nicer display (brighter and sharper considering it's "only" 1080P) and a superior camera. The tiebreaker was the ability to get 15230 on the x3 and no chance of getting even 15063 on the Primo. The reason being my new stablemate Fitbit Blaze along with working notifications. If my Band 2 were not hanging by a ribbon cable the x3 would probably be on eBay right about now.

As an added bonus the wifey took a shine to the Primo while I had mine and for the sake of continuity, I got her an x3 as well. She gladly gave the 6S+ to Godzilla, aka her mother, for a small babysitting fee to be determined. Email from University of Florida, Facebook and Pinterest are all she cares about so outside of her Canvas app, she's not missing anything and gaining a real keyboard. Oh and she loooooves Cortana.

Cortana is one of the few things I really miss. I thinks it's integrated and gives pertinent information better than the others.

I'm sure that this was a hard choice to make, but working notifications is super important. How does it feel? Also that's really sweet of you to get your wife one too. Just remember to set different ringtones lol.

From what I've read, French culture isn't hurried. You'll need to get used to waiting to live in France.

Of all the things to get as a work issued phone, I end up with a rose gold 32GB 6S. And with an OtterBox case too? Seriously?

So what has changed since you last used iOS?

Not a damn thing. Now I'm stuck with two phones in a way I didn't want.

Wow, that's interesting. Smaller than what you have but I would think they would issue silver or space gray.

I feel for you on the two phones thing. You'll probably prefer your V20's battery life though.

Both are likely to have the same battery life. I'm becoming less and less a fan of the V20'S battery life.

Most people have the rose gold, so I don't feel bad. I'm going to order a different case and screen protector though.

I've been happy with the V20 battery life so far. I'm using the automatic screen brightness, and I'm a rather heavy user. I've never owned an iPhone, so I can't say how it's battery life is. FWIW, my MXPE had worse battery life when it was new than my V20 does.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Finally got myself this little baby for ~US$70
Tried it on my old (non-internet ready) LG TV and it works... Wanted to test it in the office but realised the Dell monitor only takes VGA... aaaaaargh. Guess its back to the shop to hunt for a HDMI-VGA convertor. Until then, its "project to laptop" mode, at least I have use of the mouse, keyboard and access to my pendrives.
Ooh, it says my old phone charger might not work .. but it does.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Kinda sad journey to get the hub.
I went to the MSFT dealer in my hometown and found they dont sell it. Come to think about it, the shop never kept stock. The displays had old lumia phone, lost and crowded out by chinese Androids, including the new Nokias. I left disappointed
With my holiday at an end, I had a stopover in Kota Kinabalu and found the MSFT dealer there had much better offerings. Paid my money and grab the square-thingy. Will be back for my spare 950XL battery, Mozo case etc.

The owner told me, the shop will be reverting back to a Nokia store...
Sign of the times....

From the trips I've taken there and the way things are with the house purchase I'm aware of this. My excitement got the better of me. ASAP typically means soon.

France is a bit strange. Somethings move along nicely, others take forever. Just depends.

Saying that, the UK is not exactly the best when it comes to house purchases either. I've know people going through the process for almost two years. Even my simple purchase took almost six months.

I was referring to communication in general, especially when dealing with customers. For example, if there are customers waiting in line, an American store clerk will probably cut short the customer he/she is speaking with in order to assist the customers who are waiting. In France, deal with it if you're waiting in line. The store clerk will get to you in his/her own time.

That seems like an odd thing that happens in the US. France is known for it's exceptional service. The UK, not so much.

Many European countries are semi socialist. They tend to have extensive and complex paperwork for any official stuff. I ran into this in Finland and now with the house purchase in France. That tends to slow things down considerably.

I think I should put why I thought the way I did. Being a person who's contracted before I'm used to things moving at a quick pace. The job in the Netherlands for example. I had that job. I knew turning it down was turning down a job. I didn't even interview for it but I knew it was mine. I've had several experiences like this in the past. Typical interviews I've had in the past are more a conversation than an interview, the 'interview' lasts about 10 minutes and the rest of time I'm normally just having a chat.

So when I received an email that says this:

I saw your CV and our company can be really interested about your experience.
I transfer your CV to my colleague. She will contact you ASAP to make an interview.

You can see why that conveyed a certain expectation. Not only that but I am hoping to settle things down a bit. Lots of things are up in the air still.

It's lift off - Just bought a cheap HDMI-VGA convertor for ~US$14. My 950XL is now hooked directly to the old office monitor. mTalk works really well too.

Time to dispense with bringing my laptop to work for a few days and see if I can still be "productive like a boss" LOL.
