re: WC 100K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I almost cursed a lady out in rush hour today. Sigh. She could have stepped out of the train to let me exit, but she stood in the doorway like a log and further compounded things by acting wide eyed like I had leprosy when my headphones got caught on her hand and coat. Sigh.

It was interesting to be on the other end of the stop I transfer at today. I saw the swarm approach the train when it pulled in, put on a mean face and walked straight towards this little man who gave way. I had to do that because they never let people get off the train as they push to get on. I would have thrown a few elbows today, seriously.

It shouldn't be like that, but you've got to be a little mean and a little crazy looking in rush hour here. Most people are civil but as always you get those knuckleheads you've got to treat like a hooligan.

One of my good friends is coming to visit in June and I have to get her at the JFK airport and we have to travel in rush hour. I've always told her about the rush hours stories so she'll see it herself. I hope she keeps up with me as I cut through the crowds...

It sounds so much like London! When I visited Manhattan the two times we went we didn't have many issues on the public transport but I'm guessing it's different. The traffic when we got there the first time we went was impressive. Though after visiting LA not much startles me anymore. :p

I don't know a lot about you too,
What do you do??

My profile exists on this thread in the earlier pages and on another thread but just for you.

I work in the engineering industry as an electrical design engineer.
I work for a very large EPMC company.
I do large industry projects ranging from 200M to 40B.

Need anything else?

So did you take "EC" section of engineering at college?

I specialised in electronics but ended up in electrical. Unless you're planning on becoming a high power electronics specialist or a computer engineer I'd stay away from electronics. Not much there.

I wished to take Aeronautical engineering, but changed my mind because there's no /little scope for getting a job in Kerala(India) in the Aeronautical field.

Go into Automation and do industrial robotics. That seems to be taking off a bit. Some interesting things there. :)

Mechanical has its good points, guess it depends what area you plan to get into. Keep in mind as a graduate your learning curve is very steep unless you get the chance to do a placement prior to graduating.

There's very little in any part of the world to be honest. You have to be very good to get a job in that field.

What do you think about taking "Robotics" , does it have high scope??

I said industrial robotics. Not just robotics but you'd have to find if the scope is there in your country. Maybe in another 10-20 years there will be more in robotics.

He avoids the "what year" question very much. That means he's either in this first year or in the 10th ;-)
