Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Sex is all good and fun, but if the adult stuff isn't put in place to handle the consequences, it can be a destructive enterprise.

The problem we have (well always had) is that we now have highly sexualized media, music, video, TV, movies, etc... Free porn online, images, videos, etc...

There's lots of messages about how great sex is and how fun it is. However, not many messages about the adult stuff. Parents don't want schools teaching their kids about it, parents don't want to talk to their kids about it so you're sort of in this no mans land of where do kids learn anything about it? Media and peers of course! All full of misinformation.

It's not just the US with this issue and unfortunately there's many moves from overtly religious parents trying to get the education pulled from schools that have it in their curriculum because they believe it encourages them to have sex rather than educating them. Which of course is insane, there's many ways to educate kids about things without it being too uncomfortable and getting the message across.

Sad world we live in though where this mentality is prevalent. The wrong people are running the world...

On the tech front, looks like outside of Google and Asus, no one else is putting out any new Android wear watches this year. Now, I don't care for the Fossil style stuffs either. It makes sense because even though Asus is using the newer chip in their Zenwatch 3, you'll get the same battery life as the 2015 models because that chip is still made on the same process as the S400 ones.

I was hoping for some 2016 refreshes so I could get a Huawei watch or 360 2105 cheaper, but I guess I'll have to wait until after 2.0 drops. I like my 360 but it isn't aging as well and I probably should get a solid replacement. I was looking at the 360 sport (since I'd still wear the 360 occasionally), but the black one is as horrid as the SW3 was in terms of being a lint magnet. We'll see...

The wrong people have always run the world. The human female body is the most commercially exploited entity in human history.

I enjoyed being able to work with youth in the manner I did. I give them credit, it's tough growing up in this era.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So, I've only been playing with iOS 10 for an hour or so, so far. First impressions are good! There's a ton of new goodies, which may be enough to keep my 6S Plus fresh enough to hold me over till the "S" models come out later.
I just got the tracking number for an i7 which is replacing the i6 whose battery life has gone down according to the current owner (my wife). It should arrive tomorrow.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Laura got me thinking about my vinyl collection, where I actually do have some duplicates of a few albums, where some are original LPs that I purchased back in the 80's, and some are "reproduction" copies of albums. Note I didn't say "remastered", because they aren't; they're just re-released albums of the originals, by a new production company.

What I'm getting at, is that I'm curious now. Curious to see what the differences are, if any, in sound quality. I'm also going to take a look at the fine print on the vinyl LP's label itself; sometimes that reveals a lot more than the jacket will, especially with "repros".

I still don't know if I really want the 7, it's been in the cart for a day...

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I've heard of Chinese "knockoff" vinyl reproduction (or labeled "remastered") being sold. It depends... Where'd you buy this vinyl? I'd try to send it back and find another source.

I'll hang on to my 1520. Though after updating it and trying to use it for some basic tasks the other day, after it sat in a drawer for a couple months, it was really disappointing. What a mess...

I bet I can spend less than $100 and have a pair of cans that sound just as good!

I would! If possible... Maybe see if there's a Wiki on that particular album and see if there's any mention of problems they had in the studio or with the recording?

I don't know, I've never payed larger amount of cash for headphones. I never manage to to make them last more than 4-5 months.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

On another note, people who aren't familiar with progressive rock have asked me if I was listening to circus music whenever I've played anything by ELP where Emerson played a piano. So far, nobody has asked me about the circus music when I've played other ELP songs that aren't piano songs or when I've played other progressive rock albums not by ELP. However, I'll say that circus music is my favorite if I hear any more references to it when I play other artists. 😛

I can picture it now. It's all circus music. But what type of circus music? Does ELP, Yes, Rush, Dream Theater, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Tool, Big Big Train, etc. fit into clown music, acrobat music or wild animal trainer music?

I'm not going to ***** about how this generation has bad taste in music and similar. But I will say that it's just sad that they're willingly accepting to become just another member of the herd.

I'm not talking about anti-conformism, but nonconformism. It's huge difference.

Speaking of progressive rock, I still have a lot more to explore. The more bands I get to know, the greater appetite for discovering new ones emerge. That goes for other genres as well.

There's never been any such thing as a 'perfect' leader but there have been better ones. The founding fathers of the US come to mind. The idea of creating a secular society and a grounding document stating such was and is genius. It's unfortunate that there's been many other leaders who would rather dilute that idea.

When my wife worked with young people she enjoyed it as both a social worker and career coach. However she's happy to have moved on to adults. Adults are a bit more complex, not saying youth don't have issues but there is more to helping a 20 - 65 year old adult than a 15 - 19 year old teen. It can be more stressful dealing with adults as well.

If you want to see issues, the amount of adult level trauma from abuse and neglect, talk to some my old clients...

I'm in an interesting position...got a $75 gift card that allows me to get a used Moto 360 sport on the cheap. Doing some research to see if it makes sense.

Still need a new pair of in ears. I'm getting by with the Nokia Coloud pop. But the fit isn't great. The search continues...

For the record, I liked the Klipsch I was using. They just picked up a short a lot sooner than I though they would...

Have you owned one with balanced armature drivers? If not give them a try.

Here's a few nice pics from a trip to Kenosha, WI - Home of Eric and Kelso from That 70s Show.
