So I did buy the washer after all but I'm still waiting for it to be installed. Since it is considered a compact washer, I had to choose between saving hundreds and waiting for it to be installed whenever (and also remove the old one, ah) or pay hundreds more for it to be delivered (by another company) and of course, pay extra for installation and haul away of course.

I chose the former option of course.

The new iPad Mini is ideal for me, but my logical mind wonders if I should skip it and just update my computer instead of buying this. I tried to do that previously but it was almost there but not enough. This is just wishful thinking because I didn't realize that home insurance can also go up a bit, even if you don't do anything for it to increase. I knew about property tax but not so much about insurance increasing.

It's on the list (eventually), once I see how the new month to month looks like.

I got a new iPad for everyone in the family this year. I will be selling my unlocked Air 2 and Pro 9.7 in a few days.

Count your lucky stars you don't live in South Florida. Besides homeowner's, we have a separate beast called wind coverage. Homeowner's doesn't cover damages from wind events like hurricanes. Here in the land of cray-cray, insurance companies have banded together in the past year to jack up rates for wind insurance on those who haven't updated their homes with impact-resistant windows and doors or haven't replaced their roofs in the past 5 years. Long story short, my wind coverage went from $3,000 last year to $9,900 this year. Needless to say, I'm getting a new roof and impact windows all around soon. I say soon because the roofing materials are a 10-12 week lead time and the windows will be available late February or March of 2022. Only in Flori-Duh does it make sense to spend $35,000 to save $6,900. Why? My home's value will increase easily by $75,000 and will make it 10x easier to sell if one day I finally ditch this mosquito-infested swamp I love so much.

Wow this is crazy! I wish you good luck with the installs. I believe it with the lead time, I had that experience this year with my windows but thankfully for you, this side of COVID is better so the lead time should be fine.

My 2½ yr old Nokia 8.1 started showing its age. Gonna send it away to have the bloating battery replaced.... So, I got myself a Vivo X50pro, it wasn't a researched choice cos I was looking at the Xiaomi models in the Note/Mi/T 10 & 11 series but I was surprised by the cameras on the X50pro... (well discounted at equivalent USD425)

Some early photos

It has been more than a year since we last went into the farm. We don't have anyone working or staying on site in that time, the jungle has return.
We have to do loads of clearing up and paths re-opening. We have decided to sell the property. It's not urgent, but hopefully it's a done deal by mid of next year.
The government has resume the nearby highway project and it has acquired a lot of private land. Those villagers who are affected will be well compensated and be on the lookout to buy nearby land for relocation. We have a few inquiries, so fingers crossed

So today I had the prelim meeting with the roofer that's going to do my house. He knocks on my door; I open it, and he's standing there with a Surface Duo in his hand. Sure enough, I had my Duo 2 in my hand and then we're staring at each other's phone with the goofiest smiles available. This all occurred before either of us remembered our manners and introduced ourselves. He then pulls out a camera (the regular ones, remember those?) and takes a picture of the two of us wielding our Duos because he told me he gets nothing but grief at his office for being the only ***** who bought a Duo. I've always gravitated toward oddball phones and I never saw anyone with a Palm Pre or a BlackBerry Passport when I carried one so it was nice to see an oddball out in the wild that wasn't a reflection in a mirror.

Went up the highlands for several days to chill. I guess my mountain hiking days are over, but I can still soak my feet in the waters

Meanwhile, I got a foot spa by fishes!! They are wild, and they'll come for a nibble. Clean away the dead skin on my feet.
