Smartphone vendors are planning to introduce a new platform of smartphone that is not actually just a smart-phone platform but rather an operating system that will one day authorize everything from phones and tablets to cameras and cars.
Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) and Asian Plantations Limited (LON:PALM) used it with web OS but it did not worked out very well. BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) is presently trying it with BlackBerry 10. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.(KRX:005930) is next in line to introduce a new Operating System to reduce its reliance on Android and one day authorize everything and anything that connects to the Internet.
The co-CEO of Samsung, J.K. Shin, in a recent interview called “Tizen” the simple substitute to Android and he said that though Tizen will be introduced in smartphones and tablets in beginning, he thinks it will shortly power computers, cars and an extensive range of other devices as well.
Shin told CNET that there are several things not merely among IT devices involving smartphones, PCs, tablets and cameras. Cross-convergence is among one of the area that Samsung can best do ever since it have numerous parts and finished products.
Of course there are no plans by Samsung in near future to dump Android as it is the primary operating system of its devices.
BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) shares plunged -0.09% to $9.57 in current session with current trading volume of 15.32 million shares.
