So we're having a food festival here in town. We were there yesterday as we have other things to do weekend. Anyway one of the more interesting things there was this. A BBQ Scotch Egg. An egg wrapped in pork then wrapped in bacon and then BBQ. So wrong but so right.

The display to give you an idea of what it looks like inside. It did come with sweet potato chips but I wasn't interested.

I made my Poutine at last. Aussie style i guess as I couldn't get cheese curds. I used Mozzarella instead.
    We loved it.

Cheese curds aren't easy to come by outside Canada. I guess until we have world wide domination with poutine they will stay a uniquely Canadian ingredient.

Mozzarella is an OK substitute but it lacks that squeak to it. A plain halloumi would be something to try as it's a bit closer. Just try to get a mainly cow milk one rather than mixed. It's traditionally goat or sheep milk.

In any case, glad you like what has become the Canadian national dish.

I can't remember if I ever found cheese curds in Australia. I have a friend down there who's very much into her food. I'll see if she knows.

I ate cheese curds in Wisconsin and Oregon. Actually bought about 2 pounds of it home when returning from the Oregon trip.

We just finished those a couple of weeks back. Still have some of the other cheese left. Fried cheese curds are awesome.

I forced myself to a diet of banana, Apple, and boiled eggs this week. But last night I gave up and ordered this chili crab from my Singaporean friend who owns a restaurant.
