The good old days before poptops!

Both the Hamms and Beckers can pics show rust on the sealing rings.
Who would have thought to keep vintage full beer cans around for photographic posterity.

From my last visit to Turkey/Istanbul. I forgot what the name was, but for me it's "The plate of joy". It was delicious, like everything else we tried.

    Potato chip sandwich?
I could be wrong but I think they was referring to this: Chip butty - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Australia they call them chip sandwiches, usually on sliced white bread.

It was a great weekend of weather and that means I got out and about. :)

So my weekend in food. :)

First, lunch at Judges Bakery in Hastings. That's a vegetable Scotch egg. The sandwiches are made from in house bread. One is chicken and bacon on white the other is ham and tomato on rye.

Next up is dinner in Rye.

Here I had fish and chips. Though a little bit fancy. Local caught cod. The pub we ate at was great.

Desert was chocolate cake (lighter than it looks) with lemon ice cream and balsamic strawberries. Very nice.

They're usually made with pork from a sausage and some people use blood sausage usually served cold. Lots of things served cold here, very odd. I'm not a fan of them personally but this was nice as it used vegetables instead of pork and they heated it slightly.

    Here's some variants she made

Scotch egg with sliced ham and dough
Scotch egg with sausage, looks like a croissant coating
Scotch egg with ham and a multi coating
Scotch egg baked with bread crumbs on the outside of the sausage
Scotch egg fried with bread crumbs on the outside of the sausage

Boy am I glad I tried this one. I rank it in my top5, why? Because I smiled every time I took a bite, and for me that's important.
It is called Rolled Chicken with tatar sauce and green salad. Very tender.

That's some interesting variations you got there.

I have to say the vegetable one I had was my favourite so far. If you want a bit more crunch I'd suggest Panko crumbs or use Corn Flakes, both great baked instead of deep fried but you can of course deep fry if you want.

That vegetable one I had was more Panko crumb than bread.

I also think the pork sausages used here in the UK may have a bit different taste. They tend to be more porky. :P
