August 27, 2019 - Cupertino, California
Apple Computer (NYSE:APPL) today announced its newest consumer product, the iGlasses.
CEO Tim Cook came onstage wearing the 8 pound headset device which "magically projects simulated objects into the space around you using a new technology we invented, Apple Holography."
Using software included with all Mac computers released after 2018, and connected with Bluetooth to the upcoming iPhone 11 Plus running iOS 14 with the iGlasses app installed, the headset projects holographic images into your field of vision at a stunning 1024x768 resolution. Existing 3rd party apps need to be rewritten to support this technology, but right now the device supports displaying your email, calendar and FaceTime calls directly in front of your face.
Audience members at the event described it as "revolutionary" and "something like this has never been done before!" while one bored techblogger thought he had seen something similar back in 2015 wasn't really sure because he had fallen asleep during that presentation.
Retail sales of the device begin six months from now, and there are already people lining up outside of the Apple Stores in various larger cities.
