Apple TV is a bit rare compared to windows 10, but what would make developers invest in an Apple TV but not windows 10 UWA

The Apple Alternative Reality Perception mind control.

Perception that Apple is the 'Safe' choice in that it won't fail. [Despite millions of Xbox One's being in people's homes]

Perception that Apple product owners spend more money. They do.

Looking at it from a developer's perspective, this is actually valid! Pretty much everything Apple does takes off, and their customers open their wallets very easily.

Compare that to W10 and W10M: so far consumers have mostly ignored apps on the desktop, and WP/W10M is a fledgling OS that has failed to take hold after 5 years in the market. Its future as a major player is anything but secure. I do not think it is going away anytime soon, but neither will it be a significant force for the next couple years at least.

Looking at it as a developer who needs to put food on the table, which one would you choose? If you do not need the income, W10 makes sense. With a smaller store, you have a better chance of getting noticed. But, developing for Apple is much more secure, relatively speaking.

I see where your logic is coming from....

but shouldn't developers also assess the medium and the platform. apps on TVs was given a shot, and failed. it did not fail because the apps where bad, they failed because that's not why you use a TV.

Tv is for watching videos, the only apps that would work are video consumptions apps, and they are everywhere.

if you already have any device connected to your TV, then you most probably already have them, netflex and all the others.

the other side of this is talking to your TV, also people tried that and it did not really work well. Microsoft Kinect did not work well, and the number of Xboxes surpasses apple TVs.

it will be some sort of magic, if suddenly the apple tv becomes a hit.... which i really really doubt.
