The digital world today lacks democracy. If an OS gains initial traction, it becomes impossible to replace it even by providing better performance and security. Android and iOS have been reaping the benefits of their initial traction with majority of people and developers supporting them. This is really unfair because it kills any potential competition.

Now what I am going to suggest may change the course of our techno world!

My solution revolves around light weight OSs like KaiOS. KaiOS is the third largest OS in the world today and many services have started coming on it's app store. If every service providers from Ola to Uber, from Starbucks to Banks, only develop applications for this one OS that can even run on feature phones, the problem of app gap will be solved for ever.

This can happen provided KaiOS develops some ways in which it can be integrated to any other heavy duty OSs like Windows or Android through some sort of emulation. Now emulation for KaiOS will not be very difficult because it's very light!

This will provide a level playing field for newcomers. Anyone can come up with a new OS and all they need to get the basic utility apps is to integrate KaiOS in their OS.

Besides being an economical option for the companies, this can provide better user experience than Web apps. And I think this can end the monopoly of Google & Apple.

    What do you think?
