My desktop upgraded to windows 8.1 a couple of weeks ago. I chose not to have the computer logged into my MS account and just use it as local user, but I did not realise that this meant that onedrive would not be working. For two weeks, none of my files were synced as a result. Yesterday, I realised this was the case and logged into ms. Onedrive started syncing but I've realised now that I've lost two weeks of work, and there is no record of it. It seems that Onedrive simply removed all files that didn't match with what is online. Hope this makes, any advice as to how to get these files back would be much appreciated.

Have you checked your PC Recycle Bin? They usually just get deleted ordinarily from the PC, and so they should be in the Recycle Bin - based on what I've observed so far. If you find them there, simply restore those files. This should force OneDrive to sync them to your MS account.

You didn't expect not being signed into a Microsoft Service to sign you out of your OneDrive in an operating system that has it built in for everything? Anyway, Check the Recycle Bin on the OneDrive website.
