In OneDrive, there is a folder called Personal Vault. Look for it in the app. Once you open it, it'll take you through the process of making it secure.
Thanks, Scienceguy Labs. Your response looks very helpful, but I can't find the folder Personal Vault. How do I look for it in the app? (I said I was a klutz.)
Aha! I found the Personal Vault hiding among my files. So far I haven't been able to move files into the Personal Vault and make them stay. What am I missing?
Now I've moved two folders into the vault. It looks like the routine way for me to get in so far is to get a code number via text. I thought there would be a password. Is there a way I can get in using a password?
Once your in your Password Vault, look at the top of your screen. You should see a little drop down arrow. Click on that, then click on settings. Once in settings, you should be able to adjust your login methods. Does your phone have a fingerprint sensor?
Thanks for that. That sounds promising. And simple! I'm traveling now so I'll have to check it out next week.
BTW, I have a Samsung Galaxy 8. I don't think it has a fingerprint sensor.
Ok. Safe travels.
Your S8 does have a fingerprint sensor to the right of the camera on the back of your phone. If you set that up, you'll be able to use that to access your Personal Vault in OneDrive. If you need any help, I'll do my best to help.
Back home now -- but now I've forgotten how to get into the vault!
I remember OneDrive sent me a code to my phone. I don't see where to request a code.
Can you help me with that?
Aha! I just found Personal Vault again and got in with the code texted to my phone. That's a start. So you can ignore my last post.
In the Vault, I clicked on the down arrow that expands the ribbon. It shows Pin to Quick Access, etc., but I don't see Settings.
So that code was probably too verify that you were signing into your account. Not sure though. If you're having trouble actually finding the Personal Vault, it should be in your list of folders in OneDrive.
What happens when you actually tap or click on the folder itself? Are you using a phone or PC?
Using a PC (laptop). I can get into the Vault every time by clicking on Personal Vault and sending the last 4 digits in my phone number. When I click on a folder in the Vault, it opens immediately -- not sure if that answers your question.
After I get into the Vault, I can't find the "settings" to click on.
Ok. Glad you were able to get back in.
To get into your personal vault settings, go into your personal vault. If you look across the top of that window, you should see a drop down arrow by your name. If you click that drop down arrow, there is an option to go into your settings. I'm pretty sure that, if you don't want to get the code texted to you each time you go into your personal vault, you need to set up your fingerprint to unlock your phone and the vault.
I see a down arrow to the right end of the slot that shows: C:\Users\butle\OneDrive\Personal Vault
When I click that down arrow, a box drops down, but it's BLANK (!).
Problem: There's a red "X" by the onedrive icon and in the Status column by the name of my Word file. And it appears that onedrive has disregarded my "Saves" from yesterday. Any help for that?
When I closed OneDrive, this was the drop-down message:
"Location is not available.
X C:\Users\butle\OneDrive\Personal Vault is not accessible.
Access is denied.
In have decided that OneDrive is not for me. I've had a hard time navigating the software (mostly due to my limited computer competence), but the main problem is that OneDrive denied me access unless I upgraded. For the use I would get from the program, I would not get good value for my money: I would only use it for some personal writing, like my journal.
To Scienceguy Labs, I want to say Thank You for trying to help me with the software.
Bye!
