Lenovo laptop and desktop both stopped reading DVDs after uopgrade to window 10

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y510P and a new Lenovo H30-00. Both came with Windows 8.1 pre-installed.
The laptop worked normally and I could read and write CDs/DVDs and play movies.

After the Windows 10 upgrade the laptop will burn DVDs but won't play them. It is too late to roll it back as it has been over a month. DVDs won't even play in VNC!
There are no issues seen in device manager where it says "This device is working normally"

The desktop was only a few weeks old so I rolled it back to Windows 8.1 and the DVD still doesn't work. I then reset it to factory image and it STILL won't see any disc inserted.

I now have two computers both of which are incapable of playing DVDs - Thanks Microsoft! Anyone got any ideas?

Is itunes installed on any of the pc? If so, reinstall gear software or completely reinstall Itunes.
