Is a hard reset sufficient? And how do you do a hard reset?

This may seem like a silly question, but I ask because on my old Samsung Omnia, which had a weird internal memory setup, you could do a hard reset, and yet if you dug deep enough in file explorer, you could still find stuff you had downloaded and installed. It like, cleared the onboard memory, but the data partition or whatever.

That's about all there is available to clear a WP. It's not that easy to access the file system anyway. I do know that a reset clears all third party installs and data (all in a single folder) plus whatever it does with resident app info. As most of your personal stuff is tied to a Live ID, without that no one could access anything even if there was something left behind.

Go to Settings/About and scroll to the bottom of the page to reset. If you can't turn your device on refer to the manual on the HTC site for instructions to hard reset.
