Microsoft is about to kick off a global marketing campaign for its products and will prominently (allegedly) feature WP7: http://adage.com/article/digital/mic...mpaign/230409/. I have to say I am completely stunned, I had no expectation that MS would do anything to push WP7. Any thoughts on if this will actually be effective?

The biggest hurdle is still getting people to actually try WP7! The initial reaction by most people is to immediately disregard MS products. They need a campaign like this for WP7:

does anyone else potentially see WP7 being released with these commercials? Just seems odd they would start there new advertisement campaign without a flagship device in the commerical?

It's something they've always done since I've been with them. If you go over to the AT&T forums, It's widely known.

let's be honest, the Vikes aren't exactly lighting it up this year. But it's the only game on Sunday night, so I'll be watching the Bears kill them.

and it's great to hear that the advertising is starting, and Crispin Porter is pretty good with these big campaigns.

The best part of this campaign is this: "Microsoft is also planning to run promotions with retail partners such as Best Buy, to allow its products to be sold together".

Cross-promotions and bundling work really well for related products.

I was watching last weeks Sunday night game and saw that MS was sponsoring the pre/post game show and was miffed why I didn't see any mention of WP7.

Can someone honestly explain where the purported $500 million launch advertising campaign went? I never saw an ad in Australia. All I saw was the primary WP7 carrier placing the Mozart on the front page of their catalogue, and that faded quickly too.

Vikes fan living in Chicago checkin in...Vikes aren't all that great, this year....or many other years for that matter, but I dont care who the Bears play, I dont think "killing them" is a term they're familiar with lol.
