So, I'm looking at picking up a new phone to replace my iPhone 4 this spring. I'm very intrigued by Windows Phone, particularly with the entirely different - and wonderful - UI paradigm. However, I'm concerned about how customizable it is.
For example, it's very fast and easy to, say, post a picture to Facebook or Twitter, as shown by the Smoked By Windows Phone ads; but what if I want to send a picture to some other destination? Say, Picasa, or my Dropbox? Is that easily configured, or am I stuck with using a standalone app? More accurately, can apps integrate with the existing system seamlessly?
Can I create tiles pulling information from disparate sources? Say, specific twitter lists, facebook groups, google+ circles?
Can apps customize these things, or is such functionality locked out?
Note: I'm not asking for an iOS vs. WP7 comparison, I'm aware that iOS doesn't offer much of any customization out of the box either - I've long jailbroken mine to enable it. Rather, I'm hoping Windows Phone will be sufficiently extensible that I'd be happy with it.
Particularly as I've some experience with C# coding, and would love a phone I could tinker with - without a Mac, it's ridiculously difficult to create anything for an iPhone.
