I guess we will see in August when they report their quarter.

I originally thought it would be a stretch for Nokia to get 500,000 lumias sold in Q2, lets see if this is true or not.

I am assuming these are units sold to the Consumer by carriers and other partners.

Nokia May Have Only Sold 330,000 Lumias In The Last Four Months In The U.S.
Business InsiderBy Jay Yarow | Business Insider ? 2 hours 25 minutes ago

"It's looking very bleak for Microsoft's big partnership with Nokia.

After crunching smartphone market data from comScore and Nielsen, Horace Dediu believes Nokia only had 330,000 Lumia smartphones in use over the last four months in the U.S.

If this is accurate, it's devastating for both Microsoft and Nokia. Nokia was betting on the Windows Phone platform to reinvigorate the company. Microsoft, likewise, was betting on Nokia, with it large distribution, and rich heritage of phone making to launch Windows Phone.

Here's how Dediu arrived at his conclusion:

Nielsen?s total Windows base adds up to 4.5% while comScore reckons on 4%. Within that total, Nielsen breaks out 3.2% for Windows Mobile and 1.3% for Windows Phone. Within the Windows Phone total, HTC and Samsung are shown as having 0.5% and Nokia 0.3%.

If we then use comScore?s figure for total smartphone users (110 million) then the data would suggest that there are 330k Lumias in use in the US. This would have been accumulated over a sales period of about four months.

Head over to Asymco for more details and colorful charts >"

that is utter horse manure. To be on the Amazon top seller list you have to move millions.

Nielsen needs to back the fock off and just wait for the numbers next week.

I think they will find out come next week that the metrics they have been using to derive market share are seriously flawed.

Asymco is generally pretty solid in their analysis, they might be out slightly but I doubt it is by much - he is certainly not going to be out by hundreds of thousands of units.

Hopefully Nokias fortunes will change for the better with WP8. People are still buying Lumias, but not enough. It's a shame, really. They make great phones. I'm planning to buy a Pureview WP8 device for my next phone and I don't want to see them disappear. Getting absorbed by MS wouldn't be the worst thing to happen to our beloved platform, but the backlash from all the pundits, asserting this was Microsofts plan all along-to tank Nokia and pick them up on the cheap-would be severe and could potentially damage WP and Microsoft sales. And they already have a bad enough public image as it is.

You don't need to sell millions to end up on the best sellers list.

Anything is possible, and really once again we've seen lackluster marketing. Seems after the first few weeks everything has stopped and after all that talk of "Rolling Thunder" you would think they would be everywhere promoting the Lumia 900.

Maybe the whole WP8 upgrade thing really was a surprise and now Nokia and at&t decided to pull back on the marketing? Whatever the case, I'm still for blaming Microsoft for not giving Nokia the tools to get the job done. Too busy playing with their ipads....:dry

LOL Better start innovating Nokia and MS! The clock is ticking and pureview ain't gonna help you! Come October they had better bring it with a Phon-let version of the Surface tablet. This is new and exciting and currently not sold in the US! So bring something innovating to the table before the cRapple beats you to the punch.... Again! :p

I thought news about "out of stock - Lumia 900" were happening every in US by then? If "out of stock" is real and 330k sold is real. Nokia just prepared that few phones then.

And how about siri saying Lumia 900 is the best phone? All 330,000 voted 5 stars and millions of iPhone user vote 4 star for iPhone? Hehe.

Honestly. I think the Nokia Lumia 900 and 710 was just a introduction or a test or a practice to the US. and I really think that Nokia is going full force on Wp8 and pureview :D

The interesting thing is that if you look at the commentary below Horace's analysis, he mentions that he has tried to be generous in his analysis and thus might have over-estimated the numbers sold.

Then as Lumias appear to be in the Top 5 of multiple sales charts the past few months, I suppose no one is buying phones. Makes you wonder how Android is activating 1M handsets a day, when Lumias are running neck to neck on several charts.

Common sense.

Just do an informal survey of the phone landscape in your local area. Go to the mall, zoo, movie theater, whatever. When you're out to dinner. It's easy to see who uses what phone. Count 'em up! If the Lumia 900, or any wp7 device for that matter, was selling well, you'd see them around. I bet most of us are like me: when I see any wp7 device in the public it's a big deal. "Wow I just saw a Focus S!"

What is the ratio of iphones to wp7 devices in the wild? 100 to 1, 1000 to 1?

They aren't selling, period.

I go out to lunch every day during the work week. I go to the movies about twice a month, casino three times a week. Plus countless trips to the mall, grocery store, walmart, etc. I can go weeks without seeing another Lumia 900 in the wild. I wish I saw them all the time, but I don't.

330,000 would mean 5,000 to 7,000 a state, depending on the population. That almost sounds too high to me...
