Voice to SMS trouble

When i receive a txt message while wearing my bluetooth headset i get a notification of the txt and asked if I want to read, or ignore it. If I choose read it, when it's done I'm asked if I want to reply or I'm done. If I choose reply and try to dictate a txt message, i hear "can't connect to the network right now". That also happens if i try to create a new txt message while wearing the headset. Interestingly, if i'm not wearing the headset I'm able to dictate the txt message. What's causing this?
