Help with Microsoft Accounts

Hi All,

I have a lumia 920 and when I set it up, I set the microsoft account as my gmail account to which I already have Zune/Xbox Music etc setup. Everything on my phone works except for downloading and updating apps. When I look up the error code I get, it seems to point to a problem with my google apps account. I however do not have a google apps account. Is there something special I need to do to get it work considering I have a gmail account as my microsoft account? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I hope someone answers this question. I am heavily invested in google and very concerned about google synchronization.
