yep im a CS major. The CS program is one of the best on the coast, love it! Have considered transferring over to College Park because it has an incredible CS program as well but is one of the top party schools in the country! And I'm most certainly bout that life! (UMBC is basically as fun as community college)

Well, I am a geek, but that is not the reason I bought a WP8. I was a hardcore 'i' fan, and never missed an opportunity to upgrade. I finally became sick of it, and jumped ship. I don't believe WP would necessarily appeal more to geeks. I just wanted something new, fresh, reliable, and allowed me to personalize the phone for MY needs. I've had many cell phones since my first "brick" I bought in 1992. After 5 months, I still find my 920 to be the best phone I have ever owned. I live in Central Florida, and I don't know anybody, nor have I seen anyone else with a WP. I suppose that makes me a trend setter for this neck of the woods!

too old to be a geek, more of a geriatrigeek. anyway, back to android. tried wp7 with a lumia 710 about a year ago; that lasted about a week. Def not ready for prime time. Now tried wp8 with a lumia 820; lasted almost two weeks. Love the phone; I'm a Nokia ******. But, still not quite ready for prime time. No google voice; no astrid; no business calendar; no tango; no google + and a few others of lesser importance. Phone's on ebay. Wish all you diehards best of luck. Call me when wp9 is out. I keep an open mind. And please, Nokia, build some android phones. Call it "Aikon'. Y'know, like Toyota and lexus.

The thing is. I work for a company that does tech support for Apple. Go head and boo me lol. [I have been with WP awhile now. Had a Mogul then bought a Samsung Focus the week it released. Then an iPhone 5 for however long the gap was between it releasing and my current phone the Lumia 920] Said that to say this most of the people I work with really like my phone and do think its cool. They are just used to iOS. More people need to be around and be visible with it and I think it will flourish. That is just as long as Facebook Home and Blinkfeed don't get credit for what we built first. I can't tell you guys how much I detest Samsung at this point. Android I don't care for as a whole but there's a special place in the depths of hell for Samsung as far as I'm concerned.

dunno, depends what you consider a geek? I'm a former RIM employee that works in a surveillance & investigation dept at a casino, friend is a bartender,another friend is a manager at a call center, another drives a cement truck, GF is a medical Lab technologist, childhood friend is a drug deal lol,...only common thing is we all are are gamers.

I'm a geek with a Windows Phone! Used to flash custom ROMs and tweak my Windows Mobile device almost once a week. With all those problems I kept facing, I was pretty frustrated with Windows Mobile. After I got Windows Phone I actually liked being it a closed system with great built in apps/functionalities with smoothness and an intuitive UI and a great looking interface. I recall myself trying to look for a replacement for the built in Outlook application because of it's lackluster set of features.

Everything's great now I'm on WP!
