Outlook.com update today removes hard reset necessity?

I went to windowsphone daily this morning and discovered this article about the new changes released today by MS and while I certainly hope its true I am not ready to be the guinea pig and go through a hard reset for nothing. I'm also thinking real hard about getting office 365 for small business. Here's the article Outlook.com adds account renaming with aliases, hard reset no longer required on Windows Phone | Windows Phone Daily But the article refers to windowsphoneblog and their article is kind of vague. Has anyone already tried this alias name as primary and does kit in fact work without a hard reset?

I have done it, and what happens is that it takes a little while to set up automatically on the phone. Although my Microsoft Account is still set as my Hotmail account but I can sync my Outlook as a separate e-mail account. Not sure how to change that aspect of it without a hard reset though. Using a Lumia 920 if that makes a difference.
