How will I get lte

Okay first of all I know were to find the switch func between speed bands wat I really want know is, if lte becomes available must I get a new simcard or will it be a update through my carrier, or will it just pop up in the combo box as soon as lte is available in my area

What carrier do you have? There was no LTE in my area when I got my device. However, the SIM and the plan from AT&T were already provisioned for LTE. When LTE became available instead of seeing a "4G" icon, I saw an "LTE" icon. I didn't have to do anything at all.
