how to display page history

I have a Verizon Nokia 928 and sometimes while I am using the phone it will kick into a screen that shows apps/pages (slightly reduced in size) I have recently visited. I can swipe to view more pages. I cannot figure out what I am doing to make this screen appear but I would like to know how to do this on command as I think it would be useful.

Thanks in advance for any help,

What you're describing is the multitasking or app switching screen. These aren't pages but apps you have previously open and are now frozen. Open any app and then hit the Windows key to go back to your start screen. Now press and hold the back arrow, that app will be there. Depending on the app you'll be able to have about up to 7 apps on this screen. When you freeze more the oldest ones will automatically close out.
