Hosted Exchange - is it better than using free alternative?

I'm new to WP, coming from the iPhone. Previously I've used iCloud to store my contacts and Google Calendar to host my calendar. I want to get away from both Apple and Google, so I've been working with getting my contacts and calendar on Live/Outlook.com.

However, I've noticed that calendar changes I make at Outlook.com seem to take a long time to sync to my phone, and vice-versa. (Maybe there is a sync setting that I have causing the long delay...?) My question is: does Microsoft hosted exchange ($4/user/mo) provide better integration? (i.e. instant email push, better contact management, etc.)

Thanks in advance!

I have the exchange online plan and it works very well. The main difference is the task sync.

Outlook.com doesn?t sync tasks with Outlook (desktop).

Anyway, you can try tweaking the frequency to download new content from Outlook.com (free).

On the cell phone, go to settings, then e-mail plus accounts, and select "download new content" "as items arrive". I don?t know if this works only for e-mail, or for all changes including contacts and calendar.

edit: corrected the instructions.
