Start screen margin vs toast notification margin...

I always noticed the margins in the start screen. Though I would prefer a slimmer margin, I know there may be no way to change this. However, I recently noticed that the toast notifications have a much slimmer margin when on the start screen. Its much wider than the start screen itself. My question is why do you think the screen is narrower than toast notifications and is there anyway to change your start screen margin? Do you think that the start screen will be wider in a future update? My start screen looks a little narrow...
