App to chat on imessage?

Is there an app that is compatible with imessage on IOS?

My little boy has an iPod, and he like sending me messages. But since Ive changed platforms he cant. It seems all the messaging apps want to use phone numbers.

As far as I know there isn't an app to do that since imessage is an apple id thing and so it'll only work on apple products. But if you still want him to be able to message you from his iPod you can have him download whatsapp. I'm pretty sure that they made it free on ios now so you can message him that way.

get him on Whatsapp, Skype, or WeChat. iMessage is proprietary and not interoperable.

Ya no problem, and if it asks you for a phone number try Skype like inteller said

WhatsApp won't work on an iPod I think since it registers you by your SIM.

Skype isnt free on an ipod. Whats app wont work either.

Are you sure about Skype not being free. It's free on the iPhone (which is essentially the same app) and every other platform out there.

I have Skype on my kids' iPods. It's definitely free. Haven't really spent much time using it, though, as I'm still on an iPhone until my contract is up.

I put skype on his ipod and when i tried to send a text it wanted me to pay. Its free on the iphone.

You don't send "text" you send an IM.

sending text to a phone number is not free sending a instant message to a user name is free
