If I buy a Nokia Lumia today, how long can I expect the great Nokia-apps to be free and updatet? Will I be able to download maps in 3 years when I go on vacation? Will nokia-music still be offering what it does today? Will HERE transit continue to function as a free and great service? What legal obligations do Nokia/MS have? Post what you know about future functions.

I can not predict the future. Microsoft has licensed the here platform for the next 4 years from what I have read. I am pretty sure that Here Platform is here to stay on windows phone. With Nokia Music, if nokia music goes away, it wouldn't be too bad as there are many alternatives.

Most people do not hold onto their phones for 3 years, I believe the average is 18-20 months.

4 years is good! Puts my mind at ease... Wonder if the ex-nokia people will continue to update apps and bring in new ones, or will all be quiet until the transition is done?
