Mr. Bondy has very good point. Willing to bet there are many, many users who weren't even aware it was capable of running in Modern UI mode.

Most people (including myself) just installed the regular Firefox browser and went on from there with Windows 8.1. I never saw that there was a UI model of Firefox for specific touch use. First time I heard of it (and I have been a Firefox user for years and years) was when the notice came out a few days ago that it was being shelved. I did wonder why they did not have a Firefox for WP8, and now I know. I will manage to get by with Explorer and Maxthon until Opera or Firefox rebirth a browser for Windows 8.1 UI. Life goes on.

The modern Firefox was in Beta only, buried on www.mozzila.org.

Sadly, I didn't know of it till it was announced it was being stopped, or else I would have tried it.

I was using it for a couple of months and it was a little rough but getting better as time went on. I think it was originally targeted for release in April so I was kinda stunned when they made that announcement so close to the finish line.
