The feature I am waiting the most for is , believe it or not, is the call duration in the history log. The absence of this little piece of information disturbed me the most when I moved from Symbian to Windows phone, and remained one of 2 thorns in my side for as long as I was using Windows Phone. Now the first thorn is finally removed, and I am still waiting for a file manager to remove the other thorn. Once I have these 2 features, my Windows Phone experience is complete, and I can tell you what I am looking for the most in the next version of WP !

you should be fine, I dont see it being more than a gig, gig and a half at the most

I believe so. Also a lesser mentioned method, but one can also dev. unlock their device with the Windows Phone 8 Toolkit SDK from MS to install the preview, which is free of charge and does not require any registration of any kind to AppStudio or Windows Phone Developer Center. However, those with AppStudio and those with none can only unlock 1 device on their account. But it does mean one extra device to register in the Dev. Preview.
