WP 8.1 App Data Backup and Restore

Hi everyone

Has anyone managed to workout how app data (especially game save data) can be restored in WP8.1?

I tried working it out: I installed Angry Birds, played one level, and closed the game. I then went to Settings > backup > apps + settings > back up now. After that, I uninstalled Angry Birds and then re-installed it.

Opening the re-installed game doesn't reflect the backup-ed save data.

Does anyone know how this works?

Also, does anyone have a clue as to what the 'participating apps' use the app backup setting?

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure they have to enable this when developing the app.

And here I was, bought a L820 and 64gb SD card, downloaded the games to the SD card and patiently waiting for WP8.1 Developer Preview to come out before I install those games and spend hours on them. Looks like it will be a long time (or not even for some apps) for app data backup to be done.

At least you didn't just assume it backed everything up and then try a factory reset. *****!
