Get WP 8.1 Update on new Device.

I have an Nokia 928 on Verizon. I have successfully updated to 8.1 and is working just fine. I will, however, in the future be switching to the new 929 (Icon). This will undoubtedly have WP 8.0 when shipped from Verizon.

My question is. Since I have already signed up for the Developer acct to get the 8.1 update. Will I be able to do the same update on the new Icon. I would really hate to have to go back to 8.0 for the sake of better hardware.

Just like the apps, OS should transfer over just fine with your new device...

Back up 928
Turn it off
Swap SIM to Icon
Do basic setup on Icon
Disable backup to avoid confusion with your good 928 backup
Install dev preview from store
Upgrade to 8.1
Reset phone
Restore 928 backup, 8.1 to 8.1

OS won't "transfer over", but you can install 8.1 on the Icon the same way you did on the 928.
If your MS account is registered with App Studio (free), then you should be able to install Preview for Developers and get the update straight away.
If it isn't, and you used the free developer unlock via the WP8 SDK, then just use the SDK to lock the 928 back and then unlock the Icon.
