People are using NFC tags and apps to open the "old" music hub, but upon looking at it, this is NOT the old music hub at all - there wasn't a "Music Hub" before, there was "Music+Videos," but what is being linked to is not "Music+Videos," and its layout is substantially different. The layout, if anything, resembles the current Xbox Music app.

The question is: what is this? If it's accessed by the same pointers as the old "Music+Videos" hub, then obviously the hub received some work before being abandoned in favor of Xbox Music and Xbox Video.

Well IE playback which was built into the early apps(music and video appp) and hence they are kept in the OS for internet playback only...hence no history and recent tabs....further all this while both apps were tied together via a link now they have just unlinked it and yeah work might have been done on them but later abondoned .... Whatever it might be I surely like it.

You've got a good point, because there is a slight difference. When you open the app - you van choose artists - albums - songs, just like in the Xbox music app. Video has been removed from the app. So someone wrote a part of the code which made the hub look like this. So yes, what it is? Why did they change it to this? I think it always runs under Xbox music as you can see the now playing when you use Xbox music in the hub. The recent and new sections have been removed too. So there are differences, it's not exactly the old hub.
