Hard reset question

I did a hard reset on my 1520 in an attempt to fix some 8.1 bugs (didn't help). After the reset, I selected the "restore from backup" option. I read somewhere that after a reset, you should set it up as a new phone, not from a backup. Does it make a difference?

I believe the logic behind restoring back from scratch is to insure that you don't bring any issues that were associated with WP8 stuff or other things(apps) that could have been causing issues. Starting from scratch eliminates this possibility, then a slow, careful reload can pinpoint suspect apps.
Sorry to hear it didn't work tho. Before you reload or restore anything hard reset it some more. It can't hurt and since your already there. Others have said a third hard reset is what worked. Just to verify, you did lose all your stuff and your 1520 went back to factory fresh out of the box condition correct? Of course 8.1 is still there.

Agreed. I have done hard resets and restored backups and brought the initial issue back from a buggy app.

It went back to factory fresh, and during setup I selected the restore option, which automatically reloaded my apps and some settings.

From your first post it sounds like you were maybe not going to do a restore from a backup. Could be your problem if not fixed is in that backup.

Planning to do a hard reset and hence the question ... Most of my apps (the large ones like games) are installed on my SD card ... Is there any issue i need to be aware of ? Will the apps remain as is or do i still need to restore from back up ?
